Screen Sharing

Screen sharing is the technology that allows one participant in a video call to broadcast their computer screen or a specific application window to other participants in real time, enabling visual collaboration and remote demonstration.

Understanding Screen Sharing

Screen sharing is the feature that makes video conferencing genuinely collaborative rather than just conversational. Instead of describing what you are looking at, you show it: a document being edited, a code review in progress, a design being evaluated, a bug being demonstrated. Modern screen sharing supports sharing your entire desktop, a single application window, or a browser tab. Some platforms support annotating shared screens, and many support remote control, allowing participants to interact with the shared screen directly. Screen sharing is essential for technical collaboration, presentations, and any situation where seeing the same thing simultaneously aids communication.

How GAIA Uses Screen Sharing

GAIA does not perform screen sharing itself but helps optimize the meetings in which screen sharing occurs by preparing relevant context and materials before calls. When screen sharing sessions are identified in meeting notes or calendar descriptions, GAIA can flag the technical requirements and ensure relevant documentation is accessible before the meeting starts.
